VOSCOM's Fiber Optic Transmission Systems used to Secure the Xiaoshan International Airport

Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport (HXIA) is one of the busiest airports in the world. Located in the eastern part of Hangzhou, HXIA handles thousands of domestic and international commercial flights every year and plays host to uncountable visitors. With security concerns at an all- time high, the surveillance system was a key integration for public safety.

With 24-hour surveillance and two hundred fixed or PTZ cameras, the network of video signals running throughout the airport was costly to maintain with the pre-existing coaxial cables communications that were in place. Officials laid single-mode fiber throughout the immense airport and selected VOSCOM to provide the links from the multiple cameras to the screening rooms.

Camera feeds, from taxi stands to parking structures and terminals to tarmacs, were routed to the main police dispatch station. Now, greater detail and Pan-Tilt-Zoom gave security officers the tools they needed in order to evaluate suspicious behavior, report medical emergencies, control crowds and dispatch officers.

VOSCOM met all the functional requirements and exceeded the technical requirements to win the contract. Now, HXIA travelers are afforded safe passage through the bustling airport and can feel secure walking to their cars... all with the help of Fiber Optic Video Transmission Systems.
